About CARE

Welcome to Trinity Bellwoods Community Children’s Group/ CARE!

The Trinity Bellwoods Community Children’s Group/ CARE (CARE) was established in 1994 as a collaborative effort between the City of Toronto Parks Forestry & Recreation, parents, Seneca College and local members of the community.

We are a non-profit, arts oriented, community based, school age childcare program licensed by the Ministry of Education whose operations are managed by an Executive Director and overseen by a governing volunteer Board of Directors.

We have a purchase of service agreement with the City of Toronto Children Services which allows us to accept childcare subsidies from families who qualify.

CARE  serves children ages 6 to 12 years, and uses a play-based, art learning program model to support children's optimal learning and development.  We offer an imaginative, art based, inclusive environment where the children take a major role in structuring their setting for play and creative experiences.

We support learning and development in all areas: physical, social/emotional, cognitive and language and literacy through planned, spontaneous and individualized programming that responds to interests of the children and is implemented through the careful observations of our trained educators.

We aim to give school-age children a sense of ownership and the means of working towards becoming increasingly independent by giving them the opportunity to make meaningful choices. Through the exploration of a broad range of natural materials [such as wood, water, sand, clay, etc.] as environmental catalysts, we stimulate the children's imagination and creative problem solving opportunities.   Our art based curriculum approach then springs from these dynamic interactions between children, materials, physical environment, the social context and the adult educators.

During the summer months of July and August, an outdoor non-licensed program, Art In The Park, is offered where art and other activities are tailored to meet the interests of children ages 6 to 12. For more information about Art In The Park, please visit www.artintheparktrinitybellwoods.ca
